Welcome to the 4th installment of our series "God of The Underdogs". In today's study, Pastor Chris finds our "underdog" in the story of Jacob and Esau. Like Jacob, many in our culture are stuck in the "me first" life, and like Esau, many fall prey to poor, short-sighted decisions. Maybe you or someone you know is caught up in striving for identity and success at any cost. Maybe more is simply never enough. If you struggle with a terminal "me first" life and an unsatisfying identity, take heart! God can give you a new name! Thanks for joining us today. We sincerely hope that you are blessed by this ministry.

Greetings and welcome from all of us at Destiny Church of Jacksonville! This is our 3rd message from the series "God of The Underdogs", and although the title may remind you of a movie and a song, Pastor Chris would rather talk to you about your past. It's one of the things that we all have, and many are in bondage to it; allowing the past to define the present and limit the future. If your life hasn't quite turned out like you dreamed it would, this may be one of the most important messages you'll ever hear, so grab your Bible and journal and listen in for the next few minutes.

There are many stories in The Bible that begin with an underdog and end with God revealing Himself on behalf of His People. Last week we studied the life of Gideon and learned that God honors the humble and will move mightily on our behalf if we will trust Him. This week, appropriately, as it is Mother's Day, we look at the story of Esther and learn that regardless of circumstances, we must always choose God's Truth and obey The Spirit as He leads us to love in an ever-polarizing world, even if it is unpopular or controversial. If you're sitting on the fence of a decision or can't seem to muster the courage to do what's right, Pastor Chris will encourage you with this message of hope and redemption. Thank you for taking some time out of your day to share with us.

Most of us know what it's like being the last one picked for the team, or being passed over for a promotion, or even passed over for a scholarship or recognition. Popular culture often dictates the circumstances that determine winners and losers and those criteria can change on a moment's notice. But God sees things differently; from a heavenly perspective, and in this new series, "The God of the Underdogs", Pastor Chris explores the notion that God does choose us, sometimes for extraordinary tasks, even though the world may have written us off as weaklings, losers and as we see in the life of Gideon, the least of the least! We hope these messages encourage you and strengthen your faith and Christian walk and it is our honor to serve you. Have you been blessed by this ministry? Let us know!

There are a handful of questions that most people will ask at least once in their life. Usually, it goes something like this: Is there a God, can He be known and if so, does He have a plan for me? Well, we would say a resounding "Yes!" to all three, and as we finish-out the series, "Scars", Pastor Chris delivers what could possibly be one of his best teachings yet on knowing God and knowing His Will. This is a fast-paced message, packed with relevant scriptures, memorable and "Tweetable" tag lines, and solid life applications to help get your feet planted firmly on the path that God has laid out for you. If you, or someone you know, struggles with really knowing God and His Plan and Will for their life, this is the message you've been waiting for! Thank you so much for taking the time to join us for this series. Be sure to follow us on Facebook ( and share us with your friends and family.

It's probably no coincidence that this message comes at a season when civility, respect, and mercy in our popular culture seem to be at all-time-low. As we wrestle and wrangle over political leanings, gender identity issues, and myriad social concerns, our public discourse seems to lack the grace it once had. And as Pastor Chris demonstrates, in this latest installment of our series "Scars", God's Grace, expressed through His Church, has the power to transform our lives, our culture, and ultimately the nations. Do you really want to begin living like Jesus lived? This message is a great place start!

Do you ever look at the weakest or what you feel are the worst parts about you and consider them a gift to be shared with the world? More to the point, do you ever see your scars as something to be ashamed of; something to be concealed for fear of what others may think? This week in our new series, "Scars", Pastor Chris reminds us that scars are, among many things, a sign that we can heal. The story behind your pain is the first healing step for someone else, but you have to share that story. You have to let your scars show, and this message can be a real encouragement for you or someone that you know who needs to share their story.

Scars come in all shapes and sizes. Sometimes they are shown-off like a badge of honor, and other times they are hidden or covered out of shame or guilt. They can be physical, emotional, and spiritual. They can be the result of our own actions, or the careless or violent actions of others. Regardless, each scar has a story attached to it, and as Pastor Chris points out in the first message of the brand new series "Scars", each story can be used by God to redeem and reclaim those stories for His Glory and Purpose. Maybe you or someone you know needs to know that their story isn't over, that God is in the business of restoration and redemption. We encourage you to make time to listen to this powerful message and pass it along!

As you will hear today, the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus have collectively made him the single most influential figure in human history. Even as our own culture is moving into a post-modern age, it is still Christ asking "Who do you say that I am?". This Easter, we invite you to know Jesus and to know His purpose, peace and plan for your life. All of us here at Destiny Church of Jacksonville are so happy that you've chosen to join us today!
